Glass, mirror and glass cleaners
Club Soda. For a light window cleaner, simply pour club soda (less than 2 cents per ounce) into a spray bottle. You now have a very effective and non-toxic glass cleaner. Is it simple and inexpensive?
Vinegar and water. Mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1/2 cup of water in a spray bottle. If the glass is particularly dirty, wash it off with hot soapy water first.
Ammonia and rubbing alcohol. To prepare a tough formula for cleaning glass, mix household ammonia and rubbing alcohol in equal proportions in a spray bottle. Label and keep out of reach of children. It’s a powerful trick!
All purpose cleaner
Pour 1/2 cup of ammonia, 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of baking soda in a gallon of lukewarm water. Mix well.
Bath and Tile Cleaner
This is a great homemade copy of Soft Scrub. Make sure you measure the ingredients exactly: in a small bowl, mix 1-2 / 3 cups of baking soda with 1/2 cup of liquid soap such as Blue Dawn (but no detergent). Dilute with 1/2 cup of water and add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Stir with a fork until smooth and all lumps are gone.
Pour into a 16-ounce squeeze container with a squirt cap (such as a ketchup bottle or similar). Shake well before each use. Keep tightly closed between uses. Tip: Rinse the flip cap after each use so that it does not clog.
