Dehradun: Uttarakhand Vigilance Department has sought permission from the Center to file a report against IFS officer Kishanchand for allegedly ‘amassing wealth 3,200% more than his income’ following of an investigation into the matter since 2019. Director General of Police and Director of the Extra Vigilance Department, Amit Sinha, said that during the investigation, the police uncovered information about his properties worth around Rs 33 crore. Sinha said: “IFS income should be around Rs 1 crore but he had properties worth around Rs 33 crore which is 3,200% more than his income.”
“The department has obtained the required state authorization to prosecute him. However, we have also asked the Center for permission to file the report in court for further action in accordance with the law. We await the response.”
Another vigilance officer, on condition of anonymity, said that out of all the properties, Kishanchand owned around Rs 7 crore of properties in his name while the rest was in the names of his family members, including his wife. and his son. “These properties include a luxury bungalow worth around Rs 2.4 crore in the posh locality of Vasant Vihar in Dehradun,” he said, adding that the IFS officer would be booked soon. in another case for illegal logging in the Corbett Tiger Reserve. “The case will soon be registered in accordance with the report received from a panel monitored by SC in the case, which also mentions the involvement of a few other IFS officers,” he added.
