MACAU, Oct. 20 – The University of Macau (UM) will hold a lecture titled “Humanity’s Journey: The Origins of Wealth and Inequality” on Oct. 28 (Fri) as part of the Lecture Series academics. Renowned economist Oded Galor will be the guest speaker. During the lecture, he will explore the relationships between several major problems of humanity, such as development, poverty, growth, wealth and inequality. Everyone is welcome.

Oded Galor is the Herbert H Goldberger Professor of Economics at Brown University. He founded the field of Unified Growth Theory, which had a strong influence not only on economic development but also on the development of mankind. The conference will focus on his new book Humanity’s Journey: The Origins of Wealth and Inequality, which was released earlier this year in 30 different languages. During the lecture, he will explain why humans have progressed so unevenly around the world, resulting in the great disparities between nations that exist today. He will also discuss what we could do to improve our lives.

The conference will start at 10:30 a.m. and will be held in English. It will be available both online and in a physical setting with live streaming. The physical version of the conference will take place in the university hall (N2) of UM. For all enquiries, please call 8822 4504.
